Canadian Experience Class

This program is specially designed for all the skilled workers who have Canadian work experience and wish to become permanent residents of the country.

Minimum Requirements

You need:

  1. To fulfill the necessary language levels required for your job for each language ability including reading, writing, speaking and listening
  2. Have a minimum of 1 year experience of skilled work in Canada in the last 3 years from the date you apply. The work experience needs to be either full-time or an equal amount of hours in part-time
  3. Have gained the necessary work experience by working in Canada legally

As per the Canadian National Occupational Classification, skilled work experience primarily means:

  1. Professional jobs (Skill Level A)
  2. Technical jobs and skilled trades (Skill Level B)
  3. Managerial positions (Skill Level 0)

You need to note that any work experience that you may have gained while you were a full-time student and any self-employment will not be considered towards the minimum requirements for this Program. This statement is true even if you were on a co-op work term.

Language Ability

You need to:

  • Fulfill the minimum language level of Canadian Language Benchmark 7 for NOC 0 or A jobs or 5 for NOC B jobs
  • Take approved language tests for writing, reading, speaking, and listening
  • Mention the results of the test in your Express Entry profile

These test results are generally valid for 2 years, and when you apply for the Express Entry visa, your test result needs to be valid.

Education

For the Canadian Experience Class, there is no educational requirement. However, you can surely improve your ranking in the Express Entry pool for immigration. It is possible by:

  • Providing a certificate, diploma or degree if you attended a Canadian high school or post-secondary institution
  • Submitting a completed foreign credential and an ECA report for immigration from a designated organization that will prove your education level to be equal to a certificate, diploma, or degree from a Canadian high school or post-secondary institution.
